Planning your stay and leaving safely

These guidelines apply to planned admissions and typical discharges. Your consultant or ward team may give additional instructions for your specific procedure—always follow their advice.

Admission guidelines

Before admission

Admission is planned by your consultant after clinical assessment; you may receive a date for surgery or inpatient care.
Complete insurance pre-authorisation (if required) before elective admission—our billing desk can guide you on forms and timelines.
Follow fasting instructions for surgery strictly; clarify which regular medicines to take or hold with the anaesthetist or surgeon.

What to bring

Comfortable clothing, slippers, and personal toiletries; avoid valuables—use hospital locker only if provided.
One or two attenders as per ward rules; visiting hours and attender passes are explained at admission.
Deposit or payment as advised by billing for cash patients; keep receipts for all payments.

Discharge guidelines

At discharge

You will receive a discharge summary, prescriptions, and instructions for medicines, wound care, and diet where applicable.
Confirm your follow-up date or when to return for stitch removal or review.
Settle final bills at the desk; for insurance, allow time for clearance as per TPA rules.

After going home

Take medicines exactly as prescribed; do not stop antibiotics or pain relief without medical advice.
Watch for fever, heavy bleeding, breathing difficulty, or severe pain—contact the hospital or emergency services as advised.
Store discharge papers safely for insurance reimbursement and future consultations.
